Goal: is to improve market access, enhance supply chain transparency, and foster collaboration among farmers, traders, processors, researchers, and policymakers.
Avocado
Ethiopia is one of the largest producers of avocado in Africa, with an annual production of around 350,000 tons.
The main avocado-producing regions are Oromia, Amhara, and Sidama, accounting for over 80% of the national production.
Avocado is an important cash crop for smallholder farmers, with a significant portion of the production exported to neighboring countries and Europe.
Onion
Ethiopia is one of the leading onion producers in Africa, with an annual production of around 1.2 million tons.
The main onion-producing regions are Amhara, Oromia, and Tigray, which together account for over 90% of the national production.
Onion is a staple food crop in Ethiopia, with a significant portion of the production consumed domestically.
Soybean
Ethiopia's soybean production has been steadily increasing in recent years, reaching over 80,000 tons annually.
The main soybean-producing regions are Oromia, Amhara, and Benishangul-Gumuz, which together account for over 90% of the national production.
Soybean is primarily used for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil, and high-protein food products in Ethiopia.
